crisp and sunny

The sun came out today for its weekly visit on a very cold and crisp day. There is fresh snow underfoot, the kind that crunches under my heavy boots and makes the whole world around here crisp and clean.

Snowbanks too about the size of Niagara falls are everywhere. We returned home yesterday after visiting family for the Christmas break. It was a very long and slow journey, ten hours in total through a huge snowstorm.  There were long periods when the traffic just crawled on the highway, and cars and vans slid off the road and onto the ditches. I like to travel with audio books. The choice was Beastly Things by Donna Leon, worked brilliantly, what better than a murder mystery in Venice to take your mind of a snowstorm.

It is so nice to be back home again and have the crazy busy days behind us for another year. I have been looking at some of my lingering projects, the ones hidden from the light.  Soon some tasty pictures of knitting and sewing in the days ahead.
Captured the close of today, and days are slowly getting longer from now. And tonight there will be stars aplenty.
