It has been quite quiet on the blog lately, yet behind the scenes a lot of finishing is underway. Guilt was seeping in slowly, and so I decided to free up some needles. First up, for your viewing pleasure the velvet underground shawl. And some burgandy hollyhocks which are in full glory in the garden.

Cast on 7 stitches, and cast off 740. In the end, the ruffle made all the difference adding lots of flounce and finish. I was quite daunted at the thought of knitting so many stitches at first, and once the idea took hold I found it quite meditative. Rows and rows of endless garter stitch.

This was after a large section of eyelet lace begun last summer . I had intended to knit a lot of lace, yet found the diagonals of the lace getting lost in the mohair. You know that feeling when you work hard at something and it just does not flow, no matter how hard you try. There was a lot of ripped mohair and then I just stopped and put it away.

So here we are at the end.

I am very pleased with this shawl. It is soft and fluffy to wear. And I owe it all to
Michele for her wonderful gift of this mohair. Thanks.

That looks so lovely! It's so soft and cozy looking, the garter ruffle really adds to that feeling.
